What was your first real job? What do you remember most about it?

So my first real job where I got an actual paycheck from was in college and it was for housekeeping. I actually join the housekeeping team for the dorms at UC Santa Barbara. I was taking out trash, clean the mirrors, and doing housekeeping stuff at the dorms. It was really nice because it was on campus, so I didn't have to travel, which was lovely. Something else, it was really nice that my manager was super flexible with our schedule. I was able to work for like 1 hour and then go to class. When it came to midterms and finals time, he was also really flexible with our schedule too; so that was really lovely.

Now my first real job out of college and once I graduated, was working at Girls Incorporated or Girls Inc Goleta. That's where I was working with them, supporting and teaching girls, manly contents about sexual health and media literacy and other elements. I was like a site manager where I made sure that we had our snack time, that the teachers were in their classes, and being a support to the director. That was my first kind of “real real” job though, I do not have medical benefits for that job and that was one of the reasons why I left. I couldn't get health benefits and this was before that law where you can stay on your benefits on your parents benefits until you’re 26.

I feel like I am not doing enough to give back to those early in career or those looking to get into tech. What would you suggest I do to help other, mentor, speak, volunteer or something else?
